Hospital pic goes viral – IAS officer Dr. Sonkar caught with one ‘leg up’
IAS officer Jagdish Sonkar based out of Chhattisgarh faced tremendous abuse on social media after a photograph showing him standing with his left foot resting on the rail of a hospital bed, while speaking to a sick child’s mother surfaced online. The 2013 batch IAS officer is also a MBBS graduate.
Dr. Jagdish Sonkar routinely visited a government hospital and interacted with mothers of malnourished children bein treated there. He is the sub-divisional magistrate of Ramanujganj in Balrampur district.
Sonkar told Hindustan Times that he went to the hospital with good intentions and examined some patients too. “My action was unintentional and avoidable,” he said. He didn’t show remorse to the harsh comments on social media despite the charges pinned on him for showing disrespect to people. When CM Raman Singh came to know of the officer’s insulting gesture, he said he would instruct the chief secretary to teach him manners.“He needs to learn. There are codes of conduct for IAS/IPS and other officers to be followed in the right earnest.”
