Florida nightclub shooting:2 hospitals to write off bills worth $5.5 million for injured
Two hospitals in Orlando, Florida have decided not to bill the survivors of the Pulse nightclub mass shooting.
- The Orlando Health and Florida Hospital will write off bills of about Rs.36.8 crore for the injured.
- The health insurers who provide coverage for those treated by Orlando Health will receive bills. But the hospital will write off anything not covered by their policies.
- Florida Hospital won’t bill the survivors’ insurers and will forego issuing fees for any follow-up surgeries the injured may need.
- 44 of those injured in the shooting were treated at Orlando Health, 12 at Florida Hospital.
Florida Hospital Chief Executive Officer Daryl Tol expressed the hope that the gesture will add to the heart and goodwill which defines Orlando.
