‘DNB qualifications of a candidate who have done their course from 500 bedded hospitals will be considered equivalent to MD in all respects,’ clarified the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Earlier, this has been limited for only those DNB candidates who have completed their course from MCI recognized medical colleges. The latest declaration by Health Ministry has provided a sense of relief for all the DNB candidates.
The declaration was sent in response to a query by the Association of National Board Accredited Institutions (ANBAI), a body of hospitals providing DNB courses across the country.
In the reply letter sent to Dr. Alexander Thomas, President of ANBAI, by the undersecretary of health, Shri Amit Biswas stated, “I’m directed to refer on your letter dated 29.03.2018 at the topic cited above and to mention that the clause with reference to equivalence of DNB with different PG / SS below the Nationwide Scientific Fee Invoice, 2017 as offered within the Lok Sabha has been amended after taking into consideration the suggestions of the Division – similar Parliamentary Status Committee on Wellbeing & Circle of relatives Welfare made in its 109°’ File.
