Doctor grievously injured after patient’s kin attack him with drip stand
A doctor at the Madhya Pradesh’s biggest government run hospital, Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital suffered serious injuries in his eye after he was assaulted by relatives of a patient on Tuesday afternoon.
The injured medico–Dr Mohit Naredi, is also the president of the Junior Doctors Association, Indore. The patient’s attendants accused the doctor of not treating a jaundice patient properly.

“The doctor was beaten up by patients attendant with drip stand and also they tried to strangulate him”,
It is still not clear whether he will lose his eyesight due to the attack. “A CT scan is going on,” a doctor at the hospital said.
The junior doctors are in a meeting at the MY Hospital and are likely to go on a strike to protest against the assault.
Some junior doctors who were present there said that friends and relatives of a patient who was admitted for jaundice were behind the attack.
Recently an eminent gastroenterologist in Allahabad and a duty doctor in Mumbai was attacked grievously. Medical protection attack, which is gaining adoption in several states is not acting as a deterrent for such attacks.
The attacks on Indian doctors have been increasing over the years. A study showed around 75% of doctors face some kind of violence in India.
